Kathak Dance & Drama

Arts Education with Antara Bhardwaj

Kathak is a classical story-telling dance from northern India. Known for its percussive footwork, rapid pirouettes, and dramatic mimed storytelling, it has withstood the test of time and thrived since its origin thousands of years ago. Antara is a master teacher, and known for her ability to make the ancient art form accessible to students and audiences of all ages and backgrounds. She brings in over a decade of teaching and performing experience, and keeps students & audiences engaged with rhythm, movement, and stories replete with themes, and the culture of India.

Upon completion of their arts education classes, students present a short showcase - instilling a sense of pride and confidence as they perform for an audience. For those who are interested to further explore kathak, Antara offers year-round classes at her school, Antara Asthaayi Dance, based in Mountain View, California.

Antara also specializes in arts education performances, offering 30-45 minute assembly performances engaging the audiences in rhythms, music, and stories of India. She is a dynamic artist, who enthralls her audiences from the moment she steps on stage. Having over a decade of experience in arts education programs for students as young as preschool and kindergarten, all the way through high school and college, each performance is tailored to the level of the audience. Performances include interactive elements suitable to each age group, inviting active participation, rather than simply passive observation.
